Our Lions Tail Leaf is grown in our primary herb garden, located in the beautiful town of Willunga, South Australia.
The leaves and tips are picked fresh, naturally air dried and packed by us!
All of our herbs are cultivated without the use of chemicals, pesticides or fertilisers.
We keep the processing of our herbs to a minimum; therefore retaining the true character of the herb.
Our Lions Tail leaves are simply left whole and dried.
About:
Lions Tail, also known as Wild Dagga and Lions Ear is an evergreen shrub with aromatic dark green leaves and bright orange flowers that grow in tiered spirals.
Native to Africa, the shrub grows up to 2 metres in height and belongs to the mint family of plants.
Uses:
Lions Tail is known both for its wide range of medicinal and mild psychoactive properties.
It is anti bacterial, anti inflammatory, anti microbial, anti nociceptive (pain blocking), anti parasitic and has noted anti diabetic and hypoglycemic properties.
It can be used in treating headache, diarrhoea, colds and flu and treating intestinal worms.
It can also assist with inflammatory or painful skin conditions like eczema, rashes, bites, boils, wounds and haemorrhoids.
Recent research suggests that Lions Tail may be effective in lowering blood pressure.
Similarly, Lions Tail can be used as an effective treatment for diabetes, arthritis and as a pain management tool.
Recreationally, the plant has been compared to a mild version of Cannabis and can create a calming, uplifting feeling.
Method:
Brewed and consumed as a tea (try adding some honey, as it can be bitter!)
Smoked.
Applied as a compress on the skin.
Use in a bath or wash to relieve and reduce the severity of skin conditions
Cautions:
As it is a mild sedative and may have a psychoactive effect, it’s best to avoid driving when using the herb recreationally.
