About:

Lions Tail, also known as Wild Dagga and Lions Ear is an evergreen shrub with aromatic dark green leaves and bright orange flowers that grow in tiered spirals.

Native to Africa, the shrub grows up to 2 metres in height and belongs to the mint family of plants.

Uses:

Lions Tail is known both for its wide range of medicinal and mild psychoactive properties.

It is anti bacterial, anti inflammatory, anti microbial, anti nociceptive (pain blocking), anti parasitic and has noted anti diabetic and hypoglycemic properties.

It can be used in treating headache, diarrhoea, colds and flu and treating intestinal worms.

It can also assist with inflammatory or painful skin conditions like eczema, rashes, bites, boils, wounds and haemorrhoids.

Recent research suggests that Lions Tail may be effective in lowering blood pressure.

Similarly, Lions Tail can be used as an effective treatment for diabetes, arthritis and as a pain management tool.

Recreationally, the plant has been compared to a mild version of Cannabis and can create a calming, uplifting feeling.
